Worrall and Lowe

From my student days, furniture (particularly chairs) has always been a passion. I have always found old furniture fascinating and have spent many hours browsing auctions. As the saying goes, “Old is gold”.

Having a background in 3D design and printmaking coupled with two decades teaching Art and Design, I have a keen eye for pattern, colour and form. I work with a range of different fabrics and companies, sourcing materials to make truly bespoke pieces.

The upholstery journey began after finding a Parker Knoll rocking chair in a skip. Whilst trying to refurbish this piece with barely adequate tools and even less adequate knowledge, we discovered how complex and difficult reupholstering a piece of furniture can be.

This experience inspired us to undertake training in both modern and traditional upholstery. I get immense satisfaction from breathing new life and energy into older pieces and also feel that re-upholstery can offer a small but positive contribution towards the environment by keeping what is often perfectly good furniture out of landfill!

Still have the old girl, pre-training wrinkles and all!
